Company news

Company news: we've expanded our engineering team with six new appointments, including Robert Fallon who has been appointed Engineering Manager. Rob joins from Bowman Power Group Ltd, where he held a range of senior design and #engineering roles, in particular in the area of high-speed engineering systems. Before Bowman, Rob worked at Rolls-Royce.

We've also been joined by Amir Javid, an #electricalengineer with ten years of experience of high-speed machinery, and Ben Scholes who has worked for a number of years on the design and development of advanced electric motors. Ben has a Masters in #mechanicalengineering from Newcastle University.

We've also recruited three engineering graduates: Noah Robinson (from Imperial College London), James Baker (also from Imperial) and Nikitha Rajendran from The University of Edinburgh.

Matt Journee, our Chief Executive said: “The arrival of Rob and his colleagues will enable us to push forward with the manufacture and commercial application of our technology. We're aiming to move from R&D to manufacture over the next 12-18 months"

As well as developing our flywheel storage technology for #evcharginginfrastructure, we are also exploring other areas where it can be used including managing peak-power demands for engineering and manufacturing applications. These areas of industry require fast, high-power energy storage and discharge that must cycle again and again, without degrading.

Our storage system was originally developed by City, University of London and we have received grant support from Innovate UKEnergy Systems Catapult and National Highways.

This highlights the challenge of expanding the #evcharginginfrastructure across all parts of the UK, and so put an end to #rangeanxiety, especially in rural areas. Deployment of our energy storage technology will help.
